A new specialty food store featuring locally produced wines and vinegars opened Friday, January 31, 2025, in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
JJS Food Products Pasalubong Center, owned by Felicitas D. Baldonado, displays wines made from local fruits including bignay, cashew apple and dragon fruit, alongside specialty vinegars and other Mindoro-made delicacies.
San Jose Mayor Rey C. Ladaga and Vice Mayor Sonny V. Javier Jr. attended the soft opening of the store, located in the Tagumpay II, Barangay Caminawit.
The business began in 2019 when Baldonado started fermenting surplus fruits to reduce food waste.
Her initial product, a three-fruit vinegar blend, gained popularity and led her to expand into winemaking under the guidance of a food processing expert.
JJS Food Products recently received the “Innovative Family Enterprise” award from CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institution for its creative approach to sustainable food production.
The store operates Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Its products are also available at several public markets including the San Jose Night Market and various pasalubong centers in San Jose and Mamburao.
