Baco Declared Under State of Calamity Due to Massive Flooding

The local government of unit of Baco, Oriental Mindoro has declared the municipality under a state of calamity following the severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall due to shear line.

The declaration was made through Resolution No. 290-2024, in response to the extensive damage and disruption brought about by heavy rains and widespread flooding.

Reports said LGU officials have mobilized disaster response teams to provide immediate relief to affected residents.

Evacuation centers have been set up to accommodate those displaced by the floods, and relief goods, including food, water, and medical supplies will be distributed shortly.

The declaration of a state of calamity will allow the local government of Baco to access emergency funds and resources to expedite recovery and rehabilitation efforts. It also enables the implementation of measures to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of the residents.
