Police in Oriental Mindoro province have arrested three juvenile suspects in connection with the recent shocking murder of a retired teacher and his wife.
PNP Provincial Director Colonel Edison V. Revita confirmed that Lorenzo Bautista, 79, and his wife Armie, 71, were brutally killed in their home in Purok Lapnag, Sitio San Miguel, Barangay Maujao, Bulalacao town, with multiple stab wounds suggesting a violent confrontation.
The victims, both respected local professionals – Lorenzo a retired teacher and Armie a former midwife – were discovered in a crime scene that suggested robbery was a primary motive.
Investigators recovered a blood-stained bolo (machete) and its scabbard, while the victims’ two Android phones, identification documents, and ATM cards were missing.
Revita revealed that the three juvenile suspects voluntarily surrendered after an intensive police investigation and are allegedly linked to a rising criminal gang specializing in motorcycle theft in neighboring Occidental Mindoro province.
The suspects have reportedly admitted to the killings during extra-judicial confessions made in the presence of a legal counsel.
The crime has shocked the people of Bulalacao, a municipality known for its relatively peaceful rural character.
