DILG Urges Public: Report All Forms of Child Abuse

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Oriental Mindoro is intensifying its campaign against child abuse through the MAKABATA Helpline 1383, a 24/7 reporting system for cases of violence and exploitation against minors.

The helpline accepts reports of physical, verbal, sexual, and emotional abuse, as well as cases of exploitation, neglect, and discrimination against children.

The service coordinates with various government agencies and local government units to expedite responses to reported cases.

“Any witness to child abuse should not remain silent,” said DILG Oriental Mindoro in a Facebook post.

DILG says that reporting is open to multiple parties, including abuse victims, parents, guardians, relatives, social workers, barangay officials, school employees, and any individual with direct knowledge of abuse incidents.

The campaign has expanded its accessibility beyond the main hotline 1383, adding mobile numbers (09193541383 for Smart and 09158022375 for Globe users) and digital platforms.

Reports can also be filed through the MAKABATA Helpline Facebook page, Instagram (@makabata_helpline), or via email at makabatahelpline@cwc.gov.ph.

The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) oversees the program, with additional resources available through their website and mobile application accessible via the e-government portal.
