800 Calapan Residents to Benefit from DOLE’s TUPAD Program

CALAPAN CITY — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has partnered with the City Government of Calapan and the Calapan City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) to provide livelihood assistance to nearly 800 individuals from various barangays in the city.

The program, known as TUPAD, targets unemployed, displaced, and disadvantaged workers.

Beneficiaries are required to perform community services such as cleaning streets, health centers, and schools, among other tasks, for a specified number of days.

In Calapan, Mayor Malou Flores Morillo has proposed that TUPAD beneficiaries focus on community gardening, with the goal of creating a “Luntiang Lungsod para sa Taumbayang mas Malusog” (Green City for a Healthier Community).

DOLE officials, including Provincial Head Rod Tamacay, Senior Labor and Employment Officer Rhyme Torres, and Regional Director Naomi Lyn Abellana, lauded the partnership with Mayor Morillo, saying it is a remarkable step towards improving the lives of Calapan’s residents, particularly those in need.

Through the DOLE-TUPAD program, Mayor Morillo expressed her commitment to helping her constituents.

“With our care for one another, we will surely succeed in overcoming life’s challenges,” the Mayor said.
