DOLE Extends P1.7M Assistance to Occidental Mindoro Beneficiaries

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Occidental Mindoro has distributed P1.7 million pesos in aid to government interns, parents of child laborers and workers affected by economic disruptions.

As part of its 92nd founding anniversary, the department released P294,980 pesos to 49 Government Internship Program beneficiaries from the SAMARICA area, comprising San Jose, Magsaysay, Rizal and Calintaan.

The program provides temporary income and work experience in government service.

Some 59 parents of child laborers from Magsaysay and San Jose received fishing equipment, including nets and marine engines, valued at P1,205,590 pesos.

The assistance will help families establish sustainable livelihoods and reduce reliance on child labor.

The department also awarded P215,490 pesos to R. Gaudiel Fish and Salt Farm under its Adjustment Measures Program.

The support will fund a storage facility for salt production and help the business recover.

DOLE says the agency strives to expand livelihood opportunities, protect children from hazardous labor and help displaced workers regain economic stability.
