Calapan Port Resumes Operations After Super Typhoon Uwan, Delays Expected

Vessel operations at the Port of Calapan gradually resumed Tuesday morning, Nov. 11, 2025, following the lifting of storm signals, but passengers could face travel delays as ships return from sheltering areas after Super Typhoon Uwan battered the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) lifted the storm signal for Calapan as of 5 a.m., allowing all vessel trips to resume for the Calapan-Batangas route and vice versa, according to an advisory from the PCBSI Port Terminal Management Corp.

The port authority warned travelers to expect delays in scheduled departures and long queues at the port terminal as vessels have yet to arrive from their sheltering areas.

Rolling cargoes affected by prior cancellations or offloaded during the storm suspension will be prioritized, officials said.

Super Typhoon Uwan made landfall in Aurora province as a Category 5-equivalent storm Sunday evening, Nov. 9, bringing sustained winds of up to 185 kilometers per hour and gusts reaching 230 kph.

The storm was later downgraded to a typhoon Monday morning as it crossed Northern Luzon’s mountainous terrain.

At least 30,000 residents in Oriental Mindoro were displaced, according to the initial report of PDRRMO.

The typhoon killed at least four people, including five-year-old twins who died in a landslide in Nueva Vizcaya.

More than 1.4 million people were evacuated ahead of the storm’s arrival, with nearly 1.2 million individuals affected in 11 regions.

Uwan’s diameter reached more than 1,800 kilometers at its peak, affecting areas from NCR to Luzon and to the Visayas and Mindanao.

Uwan followed Typhoon Tino, which killed more than 200 people less than a week earlier.

For passenger assistance, travelers can contact the Calapan Port customer service hotline at (0942) 328-6990.
