An Oriental Mindoro police officer received national recognition Tuesday for excellence in police administration during the Philippine National Police’s annual service anniversary celebration.

Police Major Florante M. Sugian II was named National Awardee for Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration at the 124th Police Service Anniversary held August 12, 2025, at the PNP Grandstand at Camp Brigadier General Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. served as the keynote speaker at the ceremony, which carried the theme “Pulisya, Bantayog ng Bayang Matatag” (Police, Monument of a Strong Nation).

The event recognized outstanding police personnel across various categories of service.

Sugian currently serves as Chief of Police of Pola Municipal Police Station.

Records show he has been actively involved in local government coordination and police modernization efforts in the province.

The Best Junior Police Commissioned Officer for Administration award recognizes police majors and captains who demonstrate exceptional performance in administrative duties within their respective units.

During his address, President Marcos praised the PNP for “124 years of service, courage, and dedication to the country,” stressing the PNP force’s daily commitment to maintaining peace and order in the country.

The PNP, which has approximately 228,000 personnel serving a population of over 116 million, holds its service anniversary annually to honor members who have shown exemplary performance in various aspects of law enforcement.

The Oriental Mindoro Provincial Police Office expressed pride in Sugian’s achievement, noting his recognition brings honor to the entire provincial police force.
