Gov. Dolor Warns Against Scammers Using His Identity

Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor has issued a public warning Wednesday against individuals impersonating him and using his name in fraudulent schemes targeting residents.

The warning comes after reports surfaced of scammers allegedly soliciting money from Mindoreños by falsely claiming to have the governor’s authorization for various activities and promising financial assistance in return.

“The people claim Dolor has given permission for the activity and would give money to the community in return,” according to previous reports of similar schemes in the province. “But the governor made it clear that this is not a project for his office, and is in fact illegal.

Anybody using his name should be reported to his office, he added.”

(The person in the photo has no connection to the Provincial Government or to me. Exercise double caution with strangers. We continue to coordinate with authorities to resolve this immediately.)

The warning comes after social media posts showed evidence of elaborate scam operations targeting Mindoreños.

(Warning all Mindoreños about the spreading scammer, it’s not just vloggers they’re targeting.)

Screenshots of private messages showed scammers offering financial opportunities, with one message claiming: “Naka apron po sya ng ricky reyes paldo po nadali nya dito sa mansalay kc after mag bayad ng 1500 hihingi sya ng tip sa lahat ng gnwan nya ng kilay.”

Governor Bonz Dolor won a third and final term in the 2025 elections, having served as the province’s chief executive since 2019. He previously served as Vice Governor of the province from 2010 until 2019.

This is not the first time scammers have exploited Dolor’s name.

In 2020, the governor similarly warned against a registration scheme that falsely claimed to have his endorsement and promised monetary rewards to participants.

Provincial authorities advise residents to report any suspicious activities or individuals claiming government affiliation to the Governor’s Office in Calapan City or to law enforcement agencies.

Additional Facebook posts revealed the scope of the scam operations.

The vlogger added: “INGAT GUYS, Hindi masamang tumulong pero kilatisin nating maigi, Godbless” (BE CAREFUL GUYS, it’s not wrong to help but let’s be more discerning, God bless.)
