CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO) announced Friday the implementation of its Anti-Power Bill Shock (APBS) program to help consumers manage their electricity payments following recent power rate increases.
The program, available for the June 2024 billing cycle, allows eligible residential consumers with monthly consumption not exceeding 200 kWh to split their payments into two or four installments.
Qualified applicants can pay in installments until the July 2024 billing date without incurring penalties or disconnection.
To apply, consumers must visit the nearest ORMECO office with their June 2024 statement of account, valid ID, and authorization letter if represented by a third party.
The first installment is due upon application.
ORMECO officials emphasized that the program is open only to members in good standing, with no outstanding debts or violations such as electricity theft.
Accounts under promissory notes are ineligible.
The cooperative warned that failure to complete payments before the July 2024 billing date would result in penalties and possible disconnection without notice.
Applications will be accepted until the due date of the June 2024 power bill.
ORMECO urges eligible consumers to take advantage of this temporary relief measure at their local office.
