NFA Mindoro Begins Transfer of 35,000 Bags of Rice to Region 7

The National Food Authority (NFA) has commenced the transfer of 35,000 bags of well-milled rice to Region 7, marking the first phase of an 80,000-sack commitment.

The operation began on May 3, 2025, at San Jose Port in Occidental Mindoro, to make rice more affordable to Filipinos, with a target price of P20 per kilogram.

To safeguard the quality of the rice during transport, NFA personnel in Occidental Mindoro carried out residual spraying before loading the cargo.

Branch Manager Elimar Regindin attended a meeting with the Philippine Ports Authority to coordinate logistics.

Several regions have deployed transport trucks to support the swift and efficient movement of rice.

The initial shipment of 2,400 bags was successfully loaded onto MV Maria Annie, bound for Cebu.

As this develops, NFA Occidental Mindoro continues milling operations to maintain rice quality and create storage capacity for new deliveries from farmers.

NFA Occidental Mindoro earlier reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the nationwide rice affordability program of President Bongbong Marcos Jr.

In a recent interview with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Regindin bared the agencyโ€™s readiness to meet buffer stocking requirements for Region 7.

Officials have conducted warehouse inspections to assess inventory levels and ensure proper storage conditions.

The PIA also visited government facilities to provide the public with accurate information on food security and supply management.

Meanwhile, NFA Region 7 has dispatched quality assurance officers to verify that the rice meets national standards before distribution.
