A third bridge has been completed in Barangay Lumangbayan, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, connecting previously isolated areas and improving access for thousands of residents, the DPWH has reported.
The bridge project, built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), forms part of the national government’s infrastructure program aimed at stimulating economic growth in countryside areas.
Mindoro District Engineer Annielyn Padullo confirmed the 25-meter span connects six barangays with a combined population of more than 15,000 people.
“This new infrastructure will improve the delivery of essential services including education and healthcare,” Padullo said in a statement.
The reinforced concrete bridge includes retaining walls and solar-powered LED lighting. It follows the completion of two connected bridges in the same area in 2022.
The local government of Pinamalayan says the project will also boost tourism to nearby beaches, potentially creating new economic opportunities for the town.
