Authorities are searching for a marine student who has been missing since Monday after reportedly disembarking from a vessel that arrived in Calapan City from Batangas.
Aivan Montalan, a marine student from St. Mark Arts and Training Institute of Calapan, who was completing his on-the-job training (OJT) aboard the vessel, was last seen when the ship docked at Calapan City port around 9 p.m. on March 3, according to family members.
Montalan, a resident of Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, has not made contact with family or friends since his disappearance.
Attempts to reach him on his mobile phone have been unsuccessful.
The Philippine Coast Guard and the Pinamalayan police have launched a search operation but have yet to find any leads on Montalan’s whereabouts.
“We are appealing to anyone who might have seen Aivan or has information about his location to come forward,” said a family member. “His parents and grandfather are extremely worried.”
The family has established an emergency contact line for anyone with information about Montalan’s whereabouts. They can be reached at 09124936196, 09953483255, or 09270377423.
Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the nearest immediately.
