Maritime Police Launch School in a Boat Project to Educate Coastal Youth

Philippine maritime police have launched an innovative “School in a Boat Project” to bring education to out-of-school youth in coastal areas of Occidental Mindoro province, officials said Saturday.

For a start, personnel from the Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), led by Chief PMAJ Efren B. Oco, conducted the program at the shoreline of Barangay San Roque 1, providing non-formal education to 11 young students.

The program, implemented by Pats Pat Mc Neal DC Bonifacio and Vincent John A. Denajeba, aims to create learning opportunities for children in remote and underserved communities by directly accessing hard-to-reach areas.

“Our goal is to bring education to children who might otherwise be left behind,” said a MARPSTA spokesperson.

The project involves active participation from parents and guardians, focusing on delivering tailored educational support to local youth.
