A joint anti-drug operation in Calapan City led to the arrest of a drug dealer and the seizure of suspected methamphetamine (shabu), police said.

The operation, conducted in Barangay San Vicente East, involved multiple law enforcement units including the Calapan City Drug Enforcement Team, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, and the National Bureau of Investigation MIMAROPA.

Police Lt. Col. Roden S. Fulache, Calapan City’s chief of police, said the suspect was arrested after selling a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu โ€” a local term for methamphetamine โ€” to an undercover officer. The substance weighed approximately 0.0845 grams with an estimated street value of P574 pesos.

Authorities also recovered a marked 500-peso bill used in the operation.

The suspect, whose identity was withheld pending formal charges, remains in police custody. Prosecutors are preparing to file charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

The seized substance will undergo laboratory examination at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 4B office.

The operation was witnessed by local officials, including Barangay Councilor Jairus M. Moraleta, media representative Melissa Q. Angeles, and prosecutor Anna Loraine Villapando.
