Four municipal local government units in Mindoro and the provincial government of Occidental Mindoro received the prestigious 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) award (national category), recognizing their excellence in public service and governance.

The Municipality of Naujan in Oriental Mindoro, along with four local governments from Occidental Mindoro — Abra de Ilog, Lubang, Sablayan, and the Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro — met the stringent criteria across 10 governance areas.

The awardees demonstrated outstanding performance in financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, health compliance, sustainable education, business competitiveness, peace and order, environmental management, tourism and cultural development, and youth development.

The SGLG assessment evaluated each local government unit’s adherence to national standards and their implementation of programs benefiting their constituents.

SGLG is a comprehensive performance measurement tool implemented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Established in 2014, SGLG serves as a comprehensive performance measurement tool that evaluates local government units based on critical governance areas.

SGLG represents the national government’s commitment to foster transparency, accountability, and effectiveness in local governance.

Recipients of this award demonstrate exceptional performance in essential aspects of public service delivery and administration, making them eligible for various incentives including access to additional funding for development projects.
