The two provinces of Mindoro are now placed under Storm Signal No. 1 on Tuesday evening as Tropical Storm Kristine intensified over the Philippine Sea.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the center of Tropical Storm Kristine was estimated at 390 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte, with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kilometers per hour, as of 5PM today, October 22.
PAGASA warned of strong winds with a range of 39 to 61 kilometers per hour in areas under Storm Signal No. 1, including most provinces of Luzon, which may cause minimal to minor threat to life and property.
Residents in areas under Storm Signal No. 1 were advised to take necessary precautions and monitor updates from local authorities.
Tropical Storm Kristine is forecast to move generally northwestward and may make landfall over Isabela or northern Aurora on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning. It is expected to cross the mountainous terrain of Northern Luzon and emerge over the waters west of Ilocos Region on Thursday afternoon or evening.
PAGASA also warned of heavy rainfall, coastal inundation, and rough seas in various parts of the country due to the storm.
The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned were advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property.
