CALAPAN CITY – Oriental Mindoro province is set to explode with color and culture during the “Fiesta MAHAL TANA” festival on November 15, 2024, as part of celebrations marking its 74th founding anniversary.
The event, billed as “The Oriental Mindoro Festival Showcase 2024,” will feature official contingents from six municipalities presenting their local festivals:
- Sulyog Festival (Bongabong)
- Kapakyanan Festival (Victoria)
- Bahaghari Festival (Pinamalayan)
- Kalap Festival (Calapan City)
- Kawayanan Festival (Gloria)
- Dabalistihit Festival (Naujan)
The festivities, known as “Fiesta MaHal TaNa,” showcase the cultural icons of the province, including the Mangyan, Halcon, Tamaraw, and Naujan Lake. The name “MaHalTaNa” is an acronym representing these famous elements of Oriental Mindoro’s identity.
The celebration features a variety of events, including street parties, concerts, and fireworks displays.
The Fiesta MaHal TaNa also serves as a platform for showcasing the official festivals of all municipalities within the province, displaying the rich cultural tapestry and traditions of Oriental Mindoreños.
The event is expected to boost tourism in the province.
The main program is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the Oriental Mindoro National High School grandstand in Calapan City, the provincial capital.
Earlier in the day, a street dancing presentation will take place along J.P. Rizal Street at 10:00 am, coinciding with a civic parade.
Provincial officials are encouraging public participation to support the festival contestants and celebrate Oriental Mindoro’s diverse cultural traditions.
