Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor announced Sunday he will temporarily step away from his duties to attend events in the United States as a guest speaker.
Dolor said in a social media post that he accepted longstanding invitations to speak at annual gatherings of Filipino-American groups in California.
The governor will address the Association of Oriental Mindoro, led by former San Teodoro Vice Mayor Erwin Maravilla, and the Association of Calapeños – International USA, headed by President Belinda Morillo De Guzman.
“I’m temporarily taking leave from my responsibilities in our province to fulfill these speaking engagements,” Dolor said in Filipino.
The prestigious event, honoring the newly appointed officers of the association, will take place on October 18, 2024 at the Pechanga Resort and Casino.
Traditionally held in September, the event was rescheduled to accommodate the officials from the province.
The theme for this year’s celebration, “Oriental Mindoro: Strengthening connections, Uplifting our culture,” aims to unite diverse groups and leaders to work towards common goals.
A highlight of the evening will be a unique fashion show featuring traditional Mangyan cloth, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Oriental Mindoro.
The Association expressed its gratitude to Governor Dolor for facilitating travel accommodations for the mayors and valued the unity and progress for the province’s future.
