A husband, wife and their 10-year-old son died Friday afternoon when a speeding van struck their motorcycle along the highway in Barangay Maluanluan, Pola town, Oriental Mindoro, police said.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. as the family was traveling to a Christmas party after picking up the child from school, according to witnesses.

Eyewitnesses reported the van was traveling at high speed before the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The impact killed all three motorcycle passengers immediately.

The family was riding a Yamaha Mio motorcycle and was reportedly heading home to Calapan City when the accident happened.

Barangay residents said they had noticed the van’s excessive speed before hearing the collision.

The incident has renewed public calls for careful and responsible driving, particularly during the holiday season when many families are traveling for Christmas celebrations.
