Police arrested a 50-year-old suspect and seized an estimated P17,000 worth of suspected methamphetamine in a drug sting in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro Friday.

The suspect was apprehended in Barangay Salcedo, after he allegedly sold one sachet of a white crystalline substance, believed to be “shabu,” to an undercover police officer for P500 pesos.

A follow-up search yielded 11 more sachets containing a similar substance, bringing the total estimated weight of the confiscated drugs to 2.5 grams, the Bansud Municipal Police Station said in a statement.

The suspect now faces charges under the country’s Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation was a joint effort by the municipal police, the regional mobile force, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for the Mimaropa region.
