Mindoro Placed Under Storm Warning Signal No. 1

MINDORO UNDER STORM WARNING SIGNAL NO. 1 AS TYPHOON RAMIL CROSSES MANILA BAY

The provinces of Mindoro were placed under storm warnings Sunday as Tropical Storm Ramil moved across Manila Bay, threatening the island with strong winds and coastal flooding.

Both Occidental and Oriental Mindoro are under Storm Signal No. 1, warning of strong winds ranging from 39 to 61 kilometers per hour that could cause minimal to minor damage, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.

The storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph with gusts of up to 90 kph as its center tracked over Manila Bay at 10:00 am, 19 October 2025, according to the 11:00 am advisory.

The storm, known internationally as Fengshen, was moving west-northwest at 15 kph and was forecast to emerge over coastal waters off Zambales or Pangasinan provinces later Sunday before exiting Philippine territory Monday morning.

Mindoro’s coastal waters face dangerous conditions, with waves up to 4.5 meters expected along the northwestern seaboard of Occidental Mindoro, including Lubang Island.

Authorities banned all vessels from venturing out to sea.

The provinces also brace for strong to gale-force wind gusts throughout Sunday due to Ramil’s outer rainbands, particularly in coastal and upland areas, the weather bureau said.

More than 40 areas across Luzon, including parts of Metro Manila, remain under storm warnings, with Central Luzon bearing the brunt of gale-force winds under Signal No. 2.

PAGASA urged residents in flood- and landslide-prone areas to follow evacuation orders from local officials as the storm continues its destructive path across the main island of Luzon.
