The Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO) announced Wednesday it has fully restored electricity to all municipalities and the capital city under its coverage following the devastation wrought by Typhoon Opong.

In an assessment and restoration report released at 7:00 pm on October 1, 2025, ORMECO said both its 13.8kV line and the National Power Corporation’s 69kV line segment are now 100 percent energized.

The swift restoration comes despite initial damage estimates reaching P18.8 million pesos, the cooperative said.

As of the latest update, 93.90 percent of barangays โ€” 400 out of 426 villages โ€” have been reconnected to the grid.

Some 230,278 households, representing 86.60 percent of the 265,765 total households in the province, now have power.

ORMECO serves Calapan City and the municipalities of Pola, Baco, Gloria, San Teodoro, Bansud, Puerto Galera, Bongabong, Naujan, Roxas, Victoria, Mansalay, Socorro, Bulalacao, and Pinamalayan.

Ormeco management expressed gratitude to residents for their patience and support during restoration efforts, urging continued cooperation as work continues to reconnect the remaining households.
