The Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (OMECO) signed a memorandum of agreement with the National Electrification Administration (NEA) on Friday to secure government subsidies for expanding electricity access to remote areas under the 2025 General Appropriations Act.

The signing ceremony took place at the NEA Building in Diliman, Quezon City, with OMECO Board President Francis Jay V. Servando and General Manager Celso D. Garcia in attendance.

The agreement is intended to electrify all households in every sitio in Occidental Mindoro as part of the government’s “Total Electrification by 2028” program.

The project falls under the expansion of the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP), a government project led by NEA in partnership with electric cooperatives.

The subsidies will fund distribution lines and house wiring installations in previously unserved areas, targeting remote barangays that have long lacked access to reliable electricity.

OMECO expressed gratitude for the government support, saying the funding would accelerate rural electrification and improve living conditions in remote areas.
