The municipal council of Puerto Galera has unanimously passed a resolution Friday expressing “full support” for Oriental Mindoro 1st District Congressman Arnan Panaligan as flood control projects in the province have come under public scrutiny.

The resolution, approved during the August 22, 2025 session of the Sangguniang Bayan, praised Panaligan’s “exemplary governance and leadership” while acknowledging that flood control projects have faced recent criticism.

The resolution cited Panaligan’s “principled leadership, dedication to public service, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents,” crediting him with implementing various, healthcare, infrastructure projects and social development programs.

However, the document specifically noted that “various flood control projects have recently been subjected to public scrutiny and controversy, raising issues that may cast doubts in the public mind.”

Despite these issues, the Puerto Galera council expressed confidence in Panaligan’s “continuing capability to advance the interest of the district and to deliver meaningful service to the people.”

The resolution was signed by Vice Mayor Rocky Ilagan as presiding officer and several council members.
