Two fishermen have been rescued after their boat ran aground at the mouth of the Tayamaan River in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, on Wednesday night.

The Philippine Coast Guard Sub-Station Mamburao worked with municipal disaster response teams, the 76th Infantry Battalion, and barangay officials to carry out the rescue operation.

Strong waves prevented direct rescue attempts, forcing crews to deploy an unmanned rubber boat with rope.

However, both men jumped into the sea and swam to shore on their own.

The fishermen reached the coastline of Barangay 9, Mamburao, at around 2:00 AM on Thursday morning.

They were immediately examined by the rescue team and taken to Occidental Mindoro Provincial Hospital.

Both men are reported to be in good condition and remain under hospital observation as a precaution.
