Provincial officials have ordered a forced evacuation of residents living near the Mamburao River in Occidental Mindoro province after water levels reached critical heights following heavy rainfall.
The river, which flows through the town center to Barangay Tayamaan, is experiencing dangerous currents that have prompted officials to secure boats at nearby docks to prevent them being swept away.
Governor Eduardo Gadiano has authorized forced evacuations of nearby residents, with operations being coordinated by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) alongside other government agencies.
“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the safety and protection of all affected residents,” Gadiano said.
