The Philippine National Rally Championship (PNRC) and Philippine Rallycross Series (PHRX) will stage their first-ever inter-island rally this weekend in Lubang, Occidental Mindoro, marking a historic expansion of Philippine motorsport in an island municipality.
The two-day event, scheduled for June 27-28, 2025 will feature 12 special stages covering 90 kilometers across Lubang Island, with six stages run at night and six during daylight hours.
The rally is free to the public and expected to draw car racing enthusiasts to the island.
The first-ever inter-island rally in Lubang is an expanded four-round championship that also includes two rounds in Nueva Ecija and one in Cavite.
The 2025 season will feature seven rounds of the rallycross series and four rounds of the national rally.
The rally will test professional drivers’ skills and promote the development of seasoned racing talent in the Philippines, according to the organizers.
The PHRX and PNRC, now in their 10th year, hope to revive motorsport interest across the country.
The inter-island format is considered a logistical obstacle for organizers, requiring the transport of racing vehicles and equipment by sea to reach the island venue.
Both the PHRX and PNRC concluded their 2024 seasons in March with championship celebrations in Quezon City before launching the expanded 2025 calendar.
