Occidental Mindoro Lone District Rep. Leody “Odie” Tarriela and Sablayan Mayor Bong Marquez visited the newly established Manila Adventist College-Mindoro campus Wednesday in what officials say will be the province’s first nursing school.

The college, located in Sablayan municipality, is currently undergoing evaluation and accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), according to Tarriela’s social media post.

Tarriela has expressed support for the Manila Adventist College-Mindoro administration during his visit to the campus on June 25, 2025.

The establishment of the nursing program is hoped to address a longstanding educational gap in Occidental Mindoro, a province that has historically lacked specialized healthcare education facilities.

Manila Adventist College’s main campus is located in Pasay City and is part of the Seventh-day Adventist education system.

Once CHED accreditation is completed, the Manila Adventist College-Mindoro campus would become the first institution in the province to offer nursing education at the collegiate level.
