Police authorities are searching for the driver who killed a 105-year-old woman in a hit-and-run incident in Occidental Mindoro province, authorities said Friday, as the victim’s family demands justice.

Rosalina “Apong” Dela Rosa was struck by a vehicle and killed instantly while on a road in Barangay Wawa, Abra de Ilog, around midnight on June 12, according to reports.

The centenarian had celebrated her 105th birthday just one day earlier on June 11, 2025.

A relative was awakened by a loud crash and initially thought a dog had been hit, but discovered Dela Rosa’s body lying bloodied in the middle of the road, family members said.

Police have yet to identify the vehicle or driver involved in the incident, which occurred in a poorly lit area of the municipality.

“We just want justice for Lola Apong,” the victim’s family said in a statement.

The family has appealed to authorities to help trace the “heartless” driver who struck down their grand matriarch.

Investigators are reviewing closed-circuit television footage (CCTV) from the area as part of their probe, but no results have been released as of Friday, June 20, 2025.

Residents have also called for improved street lighting in the area to prevent similar tragedies.

Dela Rosa had been described as the “heart and soul” of her family during her long life.

Her colorful life had been featured in several vlog posts.

The driver faces potential charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide if apprehended.
