The town of Pola, Oriental Mindoro, led by Mayor Jennifer M. Cruz, is among eight local government units (LGUs) in Luzon that received patient transport vehicles (PTVs) worth P16.20 million from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
The turnover ceremony was held last week at the PAGCOR Corporate Office in Pasay City, where LGU officials and representatives from the recipient LGUs personally accepted the donations.
Other beneficiaries include Rosario and Cuenca in Batangas; San Mateo in Isabela; and Dumaran, Brookeโs Point, Magsaysay, and Coron in Palawan.
Each PTV is equipped with essential emergency medical equipment, including a GPS navigation system, ambulance stretcher, oxygen supply, wheelchair, and first aid kit.
PAGCOR Chairperson and CEO Alejandro Tengco said the donation reflects the state-run gaming agencyโs commitment to supporting healthcare programs, particularly in areas with limited access to hospitals and specialized medical services.
โThese vehicles will help improve the capacity of local health units to respond swiftly to emergencies and ensure timely delivery of care to those in need,โ Tengco said.
He added that the PTV program is one of PAGCORโs corporate social responsibility projects intended for building more resilient and responsive healthcare systems across the country.
