Bansud Resident Nabbed at Batangas Port with P0.5M Worth of Shabu

A 30-year-old passenger from Oriental Mindoro was arrested Monday afternoon during a joint anti-drug operation at the Port of Batangas, authorities said.

The suspect, identified only as “Edmar,” a resident of Barangay Corazon in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, was apprehended at 4 p.m. May 26, 2025 while undergoing inspection before boarding a vessel bound for Calapan City.

Police authorities seized approximately 75 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “shabu,” with an estimated street value of P510,000.

The interdiction operation was conducted by a multi-agency team including the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 4A Batangas Seaport Interdiction Unit, Philippine Ports Authority Port Management Office Batangas, Port Police Division, Philippine Coast Guard Sub-Station Batangas, PCG Canine Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, and Philippine National Police Maritime Group Batangas Maritime Police Station.

The suspect will face charges for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
