The Puerto Galera Dialysis Center officially began providing free medical services at Puerto Galera Hospital on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro Mayor Rocky D. Ilagan witnessed the facility’s opening ceremony and met with the first patients to receive free treatment.
During discussions with Dr. Ma Estrella L. Goco-Marasigan, Medical Director of The Best Renal Care Inc., Ilagan stressed that bringing a dialysis center to Puerto Galera had been a longtime goal.
“This has been my dream for our townspeople, to reduce the hardship of dialysis patients who previously needed to travel elsewhere for treatment,” Ilagan said in Filipino.
The center is currently equipped with 10 dialysis machines, sufficient to serve patients from the Puerto Galera municipality, a favorite tourism destination.
