A new 1.1km road linking two barangays in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro has opened ahead of schedule, according to the DPWH.
The Tawiran-Guinobatan Road now connects the barangays of Tawiran and Guinobatan, reducing travel times and transport costs for Calapan residents.
The P71.25 million peso project includes a 128-meter four-lane carriageway and protective features such as reinforced concrete pipe culverts and slope protection on both sides.
Gerald Pacanan, regional director for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), said the road forms part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s “Build Better More” infrastructure program.
“This project focuses on improving local road networks to boost agricultural trade and stimulate economic activities,,” Pacanan said in a report.
The road was constructed by the DPWH Mindoro Oriental District Engineering Office using funds from the 2024 national budget.
