Mindoro State University’s Project GENESIS has been selected as one of 13 proposals to receive funding under the National Economic and Development Authority’s 2024 Innovation Grants program, officials announced Friday.
The project, formally known as Green Energy Network for Enhanced Synoptic Integrated Station, will receive over P9.6 million to bolster local climate monitoring and disaster preparedness in Mindoro province.
The funds will support development of a mobile application, establishment of a disaster-resilient operations center and enhancement of existing climate monitoring technologies, according to university representatives.
Project GENESIS represents the second phase of MinSU’s flagship climate monitoring program, Project MOSES, led by engineer Christian A. Hernandez.
NEDA, the country’s central planning agency responsible for formulating socioeconomic development policies, launched the innovation grants to support projects addressing critical development challenges through technological solutions and sustainable approaches.
The university is collaborating with the Department of Science and Technology-MIMAROPA regional office on the implementation of the climate resilience project.
