Oriental Mindoro’s agriculture, forestry, and fishing sector showed strong economic growth in 2023, posting a 12.4% increase that placed it among the Philippines’ fastest-growing provincial economies in the sector, according to data released Feb. 14, 2025 by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The province ranked fifth among the country’s fastest-growing provincial economies in terms of agricultural output, contributing to the nationwide agricultural sector’s growth of 1.2% to P1.80 trillion pesos in 2023.

Negros Oriental and Batanes followed with 15.8% and 14.7% growth, respectively.
In terms of total agricultural output, Bukidnon maintained its position as the largest contributor to the national agricultural economy with a 7.1% share, followed by Nueva Ecija with 4.6% and Pangasinan with 3.8%.
The PSA report, which analyzed the economic performance of 82 provinces and 33 highly urbanized cities, revealed that the agricultural sector remained a major driver of economic activity in 39 provinces, where it represented the largest share of their respective economies.
For reference, the agricultural sector’s total output reached P1.80 trillion pesos in 2023, up from P1.78 trillion pesos in 2022, marking continued growth in the Philippines’ agricultural economy.
