Shogun Shipping Lines is exploring the launch of a new maritime route connecting Batangas Port to Pola Port in Oriental Mindoro, potentially offering passengers a more convenient travel option with high-end vessel amenities.
Ryan Yaco, a representative of Shogun Shipping Lines, met with Pola Mayor Jennifer “Ina Alegre” Cruz to discuss the proposed service, which would feature fastcraft and Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) vessels equipped with multiple passenger classes.
The proposed vessels will offer VIP and Tourist Class accommodations on fastcraft, with RoRo ships featuring Business, VIP, and Tourist Class options. Adding to the passenger experience, the service will provide complimentary coffee and snacks.
“We are currently studying Batangas to Pola as our initial route, with potential expansions to Marinduque and Romblon,” Yaco was quoted as saying. He noted that Pola port’s readiness would expedite the process.
Mayor Cruz welcomed the potential service, noting it would alleviate congestion at Calapan Port and provide a more convenient boarding option for Oriental Mindoro residents who currently travel hours to reach alternative ports.
Yaco said a trial run may be done as early as February, though he cautioned that completing necessary studies and permits remains the immediate priority.
