Police arrested a drug suspect who admitted to selling and using methamphetamine in Oriental Mindoro, authorities said Friday.
The suspect, identified only as “Teddy,” 39, was apprehended during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Caimito, Barangay Santa Maria, Gloria.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) led by Police Colonel Israel Cisco Magnaye and the Gloria Municipal Police Station under Police Major Honorato A. Balinte.
Officers caught the suspect selling methamphetamine, locally known as “shabu,” for P1,000 pesos along the Provincial Road.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to being a drug user and pusher in the area.
The suspect, who was previously imprisoned in August 2016 for the same offence, cited poverty and family needs as his motivation for engaging in the illegal drug trade.
Local officials including Barangay Maligaya Captain Jesus Amante M. Sadicon and Council Member Henry A. Tamondong were present during the operation.
