Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO) has signed emergency power supply agreements with three power generation companies Wednesday, securing an additional 12 megawatts of power capacity ahead of expected summer shortages.
The agreements were signed with Shockwave Peak Corporation (3MW), Topteam Power Generation, Inc. (2MW), and East Paramount Energy Corporation (7MW) at ORMECO’s board room in Sta. Isabel, Calapan City.
ORMECO Corporate Planning Department Manager Engr. Donna Valdez led the signing ceremony, which was attended by Board President Roberto R. Macalalad and the cooperative’s department managers, along with representatives from the three power suppliers.
The emergency power agreements will ensure sufficient electricity supply during the upcoming summer season, when renewable energy sources typically generate less power.
ORMECO has been working to strengthen its power contingency system to prevent potential shortages during peak demand periods, reports said.
