Cebu Pacific has launched a new campaign to promote Philippine tourism, showcasing the country’s cultural heritage through QR flight codes inspired by traditional weaves, including Occidental Mindoro’s iconic Ramit.
The QR Flight Codes, made in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute, features five weaving styles from different local communities, including Ilocos Norte’s Binakol, Iloilo’s Hablon, Antique’s Patadyong, and Zamboanga’s Yakan, in addition to Mindoro’s Ramit.
Cebu Pacific has partnered with local weaving communities, including the Hanunuo Mangyan of Occidental Mindoro, to ensure the history and significance of the fabrics are preserved in making the QR flight codes.
The campaign promotes domestic tourism while celebrating the artistry and cultural heritage of Filipino weaving communities.
“Cebu Pacific takes pride in honoring the rich tapestry of our nation’s cultural heritage. Using our business as a platform for inclusive and sustainable growth, we celebrate the artistry of our local weaving communities, ensuring their timeless traditions are preserved and their stories are appreciated by every Filipino,” CEB chief marketing and customer experience officer Candice Iyog said in a statement.
The collaboration also promotes the Philippine Textile Research Institute’s DigiTELAzation program, which integrates data, information, internet of things, data analytics, robotics, and artificial intelligence to improve the productivity of local handloom weaving and other textile industries.
By scanning the QR flight codes, travelers can explore more of the Philippines and learn about its rich culture and heritage, with Cebu Pacific encouraging every Juan to discover the unique offerings and experiences of each destination, including Mindoro.
