PINAMALAYAN, Oriental Mindoro – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday distributed P50 million pesos in financial aid to farmers and fisherfolk affected by Typhoons Kristine and Leon in Oriental Mindoro province.
During the ceremonial distribution at Abada College in Pinamalayan, beneficiaries from 15 municipalities received P10,000 pesos each in presidential assistance.
The affected areas include Baco, Calapan City, Naujan, Pola, Puerto Galera, San Teodoro, Socorro, Victoria, Bansud, Bongabong, Bulalacao, Gloria, Mansalay, Pinamalayan and Roxas.
Municipal mayors from several towns including Baco, Pola, Socorro, Gloria, Bongabong, Bulalacao and Calapan City gathered at the venue as early as 8:00 a.m. to welcome the president.
Mindoro police, military personnel, and security teams were deployed throughout the venue to maintain order during the president’s visit.
Oriental Mindoro was among the provinces in Luzon that bore the brunt of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine’s impact.
The aid distribution will ensure affected communities can recover from recent calamities, according to the president’s office.
