Pork prices in Naujan municipality’s public markets have increased as African Swine Fever (ASF) continues to affect town supply chains, according to a November 6, 2024 market survey conducted by Naujan LGU.
Premium pork cuts in the Naujan Public Market are now selling for P380 to P400 pesos per kilogram, while pork ribs range from P290 to P300 pesos.
The survey, released by the Naujan Public Market Office, shows similar price increases across other markets in the municipality, with some areas reporting even higher rates.
To prevent ASF spread within its jurisdiction, the municipality maintains strict implementation of Executive Order No. 80, series of 2023, which prohibits the entry of live pigs, locally-made pork products, and by-products from ASF-affected areas, the Municipal Agriculture Office reported.
The highest prices were observed in markets serving outlying areas, where premium cuts reach up to P460 pesos per kilogram.
The Savemore Market chain reported consistent prices, with premium cuts at P400 pesos per kilogram and pork ribs at P380 pesos.
The price monitoring covers five major markets in the municipality: Naujan Public Market, Savemore Market, Pinagsabangan II (Curva), Barcenaga, and other town markets.
LGU officials continue to monitor the situation to maintain food security while preventing the spread of ASF in the municipality.
