Two suspected drug peddlers were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by the Sablayan Municipal Police Station and the Occidental Mindoro Provincial Police Office on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024.
The suspects, identified as 31-year-old alyas “Abel” and 30-year-old alyas “Sam,” both residents of Sablayan, were caught after they sold a package of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer for P1,000.
The police operation was conducted at 5:45 p.m. in Barangay Batong Buhay, Sablayan, with the Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit of the Sablayan Municipal Police Station and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Occidental Mindoro PPO participating.
Abel was found to have three more packages of suspected shabu weighing 0.48 grams and estimated to be worth P3,500.
The buy-bust money and other evidence were recovered during the operation.
The suspects are facing charges of violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The successful operation was attributed to the good relationship between the police and the community, as well as the directive of Provincial Director PCOL Timoteo L. Espiritu Jr. to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs in Occidental Mindoro to maintain peace and order in the province.
