Six municipal mayors in Oriental Mindoro are seeking to run for vice mayor in the upcoming elections, as they approach the end of their three-term limit.

The mayors, three from the first district and three from the second district, have filed their certificates of candidacy to seek the vice mayoralty in their respective municipalities. They are Rocky Ilagan of Puerto Galera, Boyet Py of San Teodoro, Lito Malabanan of Victoria, Aristeo Baldos, Jr. of Pinamalayan, German Rodegerio of Gloria, and Niel Villas of Bulalacao.

Additionally, two former mayors—Dojie Panganiban of Pola and Joel Maliwanag of Mansalay—are also running for the vice mayoral position in their towns.

If elected, almost half of the province’s vice mayors could be composed of former mayors.
