The Galing at Serbisyo para sa Mindoreño (GSM) Party and the Partido MBS-Lakas CMD held their respective conventions on Saturday to formally proclaim their candidates for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections in Oriental Mindoro province, with Governor Humerlito “Bonz” A. Dolor’s party unveiling a comprehensive slate.
Led by incumbent Governor Dolor, GSM Party announced its candidates for top provincial positions.
Gov. Dolor will seek re-election, while his elder brother, Dr. PA Hubert A. Dolor, has been nominated as the party’s candidate for vice governor after Atty. Cesar “Tangol” Dela Fuente declined the nomination.
For the congressional seats, actor and incumbent Vice Gov. Ejay Falcon will be running in the 2nd District, setting up a thrilling clash against incumbent Congressman Boy Umali.
GSM Party also revealed its candidates for the Provincial Board.
For the 1st District, the party is fielding Alely Casubuan-Tan, Fay Ilano-Navarro, Jun Panaligan, Ryan Arago, and Miko Atienza.
The 2nd District slate includes Atty. Roland Ruga, Atty. Joms Dimapilis, Jigs Talens, Butch Buenaventura, and Niño Liwanag.
In a move to broaden its base, GSM Party welcomed new members, including Calapan City Mayor Malou Flores-Morillo and several city councilors, who took their oath during a ceremony held at Abada College in Pinamalayan.
The party also announced a partnership with the FPJ Panday Bayanihan group, represented by its National Chairman Bryan Poe, grandson of the late actor Fernando Poe Jr.
Meanwhile, the Partido MBS-Lakas, led by 1st District Congressman Arnan Panaligan and Doy Leachon, also held their convention to announce their slate of candidates.
The convention, held at the Abada Gym in Pinamalayan, was well-attended by party members and supporters from various municipalities across Oriental Mindoro.
As the political landscape in Oriental Mindoro takes shape for the 2025 elections, observers anticipate a competitive race, particularly in the second district where Vice Governor Ejay Falcon is expected to face off against Congressman Alfonso Umali, Jr.
These developments signal Governor Dolor’s efforts to consolidate his political dominance in the province, with a strong lineup of candidates across various positions.
