The Philippine National Police has announced on Thursday that they have solved the gruesome murder case of a 38-year-old woman whose naked body was found wrapped in a blanket and dumped by the side of a road in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro last Monday, Sept. 23, 2024.
The victim, identified as Caryl Cabello Valenzuela, a resident of Tayabas, Quezon, was reportedly on her way to collect money in Mindoro when she was killed.
Police said the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed pending further investigation, is currently in custody at the Gloria Municipal Police Station.
Charges are set to be filed against the suspect later today.
The police credited the swift resolution of the case to the public’s cooperation and concern, with Gloria MPS PMAJ Honorato Balinte expressing gratitude to those who provided information and showed compassion in helping to solve the case.
“This was not an ordinary case, it was heinous and needed to be solved,” Balinte said, adding that the police were guided by divine power in their pursuit of justice.
The police also offered their condolences to the victim’s family, saying that while the case was tragic, justice had been served. (Source: FB post of Michael Landicho)
