The Pinamalayan Police Station has released a public advisory to clarify a social media post that sparks fears about a child abduction attempt at a Pinamalayan school.
The post, which surfaced on Facebook on Sept. 16, claimed that a child was nearly abducted at Pilot School in Pinamalayan.
However, an investigation by the Pinamalayan Police Station revealed that the incident was a misunderstanding.
According to witnesses, a woman and her child, who own a white Toyota Wigo, had parked in front of the school and accidentally left their keys inside the vehicle.
The child was asked to try and retrieve the keys through a small window, prompting concerns from onlookers.
The Pinamalayan Police Station urged residents to remain calm and vigilant, and to be cautious when sharing information on social media.
The station also encouraged the public to report any suspicious incidents to their hotline numbers: 0998-598-5822 and 0915-591-5904.
“We urge the public to remain calm, vigilant, and alert in situations like this,” the Pinamalayan Police Station said in the advisory. “We want to assure the public that their safety is our top priority.”
