PSA Warns Public Against Fake National IDs

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has issued a public advisory warning against the unauthorized printing and issuance of National IDs, including the Digital National ID.

According to an advisory reposted by PSA Oriental Mindoro, the printing of National IDs in Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) or plastic cards is strictly prohibited.

Moreover, Digital National IDs printed in PVC cards will not be accepted as proof of identity and age in any public and private transactions.

PSA said that only it is authorized to print and issue the National ID.

Any individual or group found guilty of unauthorized printing, preparation, or issuance of a National ID can face imprisonment of 3 to 6 years and a fine of P1,000,000 to P3,000,000, as provided under Republic Act No. 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act.

To ensure the authenticity of their National IDs, the PSA encourages the public to download their Digital National ID via https://national-id.gov.ph/.

The agency also urges the public and relying parties to report any information related to unauthorized printing of the National ID, including the Digital National ID, to the following official channels: hotline 1188, email inf@philsys.gov.ph, and Facebook page @PSAofficial.
