Police authorities arrested a 21-year-old suspect in a pre-dawn raid on Tuesday, seizing suspected marijuana and shabu (methamphetamine) in a crackdown on illicit drugs in Occidental Mindoro province.

The operation, carried out by a joint team of the Sta Cruz Municipal Police Station, 2nd Occidental Mindoro Provincial Mobile Force Company, 402nd Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4B, and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, was conducted under a search warrant issued for the suspect’s alleged violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165).

The suspect, identified as “Alyas Dwin”, was apprehended at his residence in Barangay Poblacion 2, Sta Cruz, Occidental Mindoro, at around 4:15 am on Tuesday.

The search warrant was served in the presence of a barangay official, a media representative, and a representative from the National Prosecution Office.

Police recovered five packets containing suspected dried marijuana leaves weighing approximately 3.2 grams, four plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing around 0.7 grams with an estimated street value of P4,200 pesos, and other drug paraphernalia.

The arrest was the result of a successful collaboration between the community and the police, under the direction of Provincial Director PCOL Timoteo L. Espiritu Jr. of the Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, who has intensified efforts to combat illicit drugs in the province for peace and order.
