A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to government authorities in Mansalay, Oriental Mindoro on Tuesday, police said.

The ex-rebel, known only by the alias “Nilo,” turned himself in to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) Mimaropa at 10 a.m., according to police officials.

Nilo was previously associated with the NPA’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4D.

Multiple law enforcement and military units assisted in the surrender, including Mansalay police, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and elements of the Philippine Army.

Officials said Nilo will be processed for inclusion in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), which aims to reintegrate former rebels into society.
